First Step Infant Care is offered at Whitehouse Station and Fairmount, NJ
Our infant program is dedicated to nurturing the development of babies 6 weeks to 18 months and is divided into Newborns, Crawlers and Walkers. As each child progresses at his or her own pace, we happily ‘graduate’ them to the next classroom where their ever-expanding needs are met with warmth and excitement.
Our nurseries have been specifically designed to ensure the safety and comfort of all our infants. With comfortable, cushy cribs for sleeping, big rocking chairs where babies are held and fed their bottles, and lots of room to move and grow; we provide our babies with both soothing and stimulating environments.
Each family develops their child’s daily schedule. They set naptimes, playtimes and bottle times to ensure consistency between home and First Step. Our teachers also welcome visits from families at any time.
Our Infant Program Highlights Include:
First Step believes all babies should develop at his/her own pace. Our play areas are full of stimulating toys and books to reinforce this. |
Teachers sing songs and read stories to encourage language acquisition. Balls and games are used to develop motor skills. |
Teachers spend lots of time cuddling and talking to babies to instill trust and comfort in their environment. |
American Sign Language is introduced so that infants may learn to express their thoughts or needs without regard to their language ability. |
At First Step, we understand that infants love to move and explore. We have designed our rooms to maximize their freedom of movement while ensuring their safety. |
As children graduate from Newborns to Crawlers to Walkers, children are encouraged to attempt new vocabulary, practice self-help skills and expand their awareness of the world around them. |
